Description The world's largest timepiece event, the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair is organised by the HKTDC, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd, and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries Ltd. The fair, which takes place at the HKCEC, showcases both Hong Kong and international brands and is a platform for exchanging information and market intelligence. Product trend: Across all markets, quartz analogue watch and mechanical watch are regarded as the most popular. White metal and titanium are leading watchcases. For watch strap, white metal and leather are the most preferred materials. Buyers also favour black metal watchcase and plastic watchstrap on the mainland. Sourcing pattern: 44% of buyers will increase the frequency of orders when compared to the same period last year, while 30 % remains unchanged. Sourcing season: most buyers tend to source from July to September. Channels of sourcing: trade fairs remain the most effective channel for buyers to contact existing or new suppliers in trade fairs, followed by email and internet. This year’s show includes the new Lifestyle Pavilion, which responds to the popularity of fashion and lifestyle brands. Companies (Properties showcasing?) taking part in the pavilion include Michel Rene, Fiorucci, Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Daniel Hechter and Evisu. Mini-parades will be staged to spotlight the lifestyle brands.
