Author Pietro De Angelis >>>>>> Messe Berlin (Singapore), the organiser of ITB Asia, has confirmed the deal with Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre to host ITB Asia also this year. Suntec's management welcomed the extension, as more than 21,000 buyer-seller meetings are expected every year and Itb Asia attendees have a choice of over 5,000 four-star or above hotel rooms within a 10-minute walk of Suntec. Each October since 2008, ITB Asia has attracted over 6,000 participants from the leisure, meetings, and corporate travel sectors. ITB Asia is a annually held three day B2B trade show and convention for the travel industry; it is designed to become the primary event for the Asia Pacific travel industry, much like its parent event – ITB Berlin. Now in its twelfth year in Singapore, ITB Asia will be taking place at Marina Bay Sands. It is organised by Messe Berlin (Singapore) Pte Ltd and supported by the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau. Today, ITB Asia is the premier meeting place for the travel trade industry and a forum for establishing high-quality customer contacts and conducting businesses.
A third of companies with a turnover in excess of EUR 50 million intend to spend more on trade fairs, whereas only a quarter of smaller companies plan to do so, and furthermore, significantly more companies exhibiting capital goods (32 %) intend to increase their trade fair budget than exhibitors of consumer goods (23 %). At the same time 17 % of smaller companies plan to reduce their trade fair budget by one-tenth. Companies continue to maintain tight control of trade fair spending. Exhibitors pay close attention to which trade fairs really benefit their aims, and want to be in control of costs when sales recover after the lean period in the last recession. +++ Of the exhibitors aiming to increase their trade fair budget almost 50 % plan larger stands, 42 % want to invest more in stand construction, and 26 % intend to take part in extra trade fairs. Additional spending benefits core trade fair business, that is to say trade fair organisers and the stand construction sector. Relatively few exhibitors plan to spend more on hotel and transport expenses. Nearly two-thirds of those exhibitors who are planning to reduce their trade fair budget want to cancel their participation in individual trade fairs. Furthermore, companies which exhibit at numerous trade fairs intend to cut back on stand space. By contrast, they rarely see any need to reduce the quality of construction and staff on the stands.
Total exhibiting companies 3,500 - Total countries 157 - Total exhibition space (sqm) 17,500 - Total hosted buyers & trade visitors 8,944 - Total hosted buyers 3,887 from 68 countries - Total Trade visitors 5,057 from 81 countries. ++++++ Actually IMEX is committed to MICE sector innovation. When IMEX was launched in 2003, Chairman, Ray Bloom, set out to build not only a world-leading trade show but also a platform for engaging and stimulating debate that would inspire progressive changes throughout the global meetings industry. As a result, IMEX launched its New Vision Programme. That Programme has now expanded to encompass 16 separate initiatives for meetings industry professionals of all ages and levels of experience, and each provides a focal point for raising awareness, improving knowledge and understanding, as well as rewarding best practice and innovation. Each of unique IMEX Vision initiatives has been designed and developed to respond to a pressing educational or professional need and each is intended to bring industry associations and individuals together to share best practice, provide encouragement and inspiration and change the industry from the grassroots up. Last edition saw 8,828 attendees between hosted buyers and visitors; 3,866 hosted buyers from 88 countries (69% agencies - 18% corporate - 8% associations - 5% independent planners); 68,500 Prescheduled appointments (one-on-one, stand presentations and group appointments); 3,500 exhibiting companies from 160+ countries ( 46.8% from Europe); 206 journalists from 27 countries.
IMEX works closely with several expert partners to consistently promote better understanding of environmental management issues. These are: The Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC), Louise Hall Reider and Co and Positive Impact. This year IMEX has also introduced a Green Team ribbon scheme as way of incentivising exhibitors to reduce waste. Exhibitors who commit to achieving two out of three green tasks are eligible to wear a green ribbon to demonstrate their practical environmental achievements at IMEX. The three tasks are: using USB sticks rather than print materials, shipping print brochures back rather than sending them for waste after the show, and using hydroelectric power for their stand. IMEX continues to manage its environmental performance by using hydroelectric energy to meet all of the organisers electricity requirements for the week in Frankfurt. This energy option is also offered to IMEX exhibitors. IMEX also uses biodegradable and recyclable badges - printed on 100 per cent recycled paper. With no petrochemicals used in their production, they are also completely compostable in water. This alone saves the use of 21,000 plastic badges and badge holders each year. The show also uses plant silk lanyards made from a 100% waste product. All carpets will be re-used or recycled and visitor bags are made of reusable, recyclable polypropylene. IMEX has also use of bio-diesel fuel for 90% of its hosted buyer bus transfers.

Questex Travel Group changed the name of the longtime flagship event Incentive Travel Exchange (ITE) - held in Las Vegas for more than 14 years - to Global Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange (GMITE) to better convey the full breadth of suppliers who attend. The event, organized by Questex, publisher of International Meetings Review, brings fully hosted, high-volume North American incentive buyers and meeting planners who have a combined purchasing power of $1.5 billion, together with global suppliers for two and a half days of exclusive networking opportunities and prescheduled one-to-one meetings in private, luxury suites. The Questex MICE events are the only ones to offer suppliers a minimum of 20 private, one-to-one appointments over two days with buyers they select in advance of the event based on detailed profiles which enable them to meet with those most relevant to their business needs. In preparation for the change, organizers launched a thorough evaluation of the audience, conducting qualitative and quantitative research to determine that a name expansion and logo refresh would help solidify the breadth of opportunity available to MICE buyers going forward. ++++++++++++ www.incentivetravelexchange.com ++++++++++++++++

Sponsored by Fiera Milano, the most important player in the Exhibition Industry in Italy and one of the biggest in the world, Bit takes place every year, since 1980. Over the years Bit has been an international meeting point for decision makers, professionals, buyers coming from different areas and industry fields. So currently you cannot get only Leisure packages but also MICE, Luxury, Food and Wine. ++++++++++++++++ BIT MICE 2019 consisted of three days full of events at the stand with 10 events per day. During the various breaks between one event and the other, buyers had 1 or 2 hours available to visit other stands. This solution allowed MICE’s world to meet other players and thus complete their offering. To make the companies participation in this formula more effective a certain number of top buyers coming from MICE’s world was invited, whose ratio was 1/1.5 (Buyers / exhibitors) To meet the market’s requirements, we’ve decided to create a controlled access area at Bit 2019 where to host pre-installed stands for the suppliers of the meeting industry. Moreover, workshops related to MICE world took place in the central area , thanks to the support of the Mice Advisory Board.
